Guru Nanak Dev Global University is pleased to announce the esteemed association of renowned Bollywood actors and director in their Advisory Board. The university with a mission to its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, has welcomed renowned actors Rakesh Bedi, Gavie Chahal, and director Sukhminder Dhanjal to join the Advisory Board.
Rakesh Bedi, a distinguished Indian actor, has made an indelible mark in the film, stage, and television industry. With his exceptional talent and versatility, Bedi has entertained audiences with his impeccable comedic timing in films such as “Mera Damaad” and the cult classic “Chashme Buddoor” (1981). He has also left an indelible impression with his notable roles in popular television shows such as “Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi” (1984), “Shrimaan Shrimati” (1994-1997), “Yes Boss” (1999-2009), and “Bechara Big B” (2005). Currently, Bedi can be seen enchanting the audience as “Bhoorey Lal” in the TV sitcom “Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain” and as “Babulal” in “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.”
Sukhminder Dhanjal, a highly regarded figure in Punjabi Cinema, brings his exceptional talent and immense potential to the Advisory Board. Originally an electrical engineer, Dhanjal embarked on a journey to Mumbai three decades ago with a dream of becoming a film director. After assisting reputed directors in both Bollywood and South India, he gained recognition and media coverage in 2007 when his second film, “BAGHI,” received the National Award for Best Punjabi Feature Film. Dhanjal’s dedication to creating films that combine entertainment with meaningful messages is evident in his work. His technical expertise as an engineer enables him to embrace modern techniques and advancements in digital cinema seamlessly. With a deep connection to Punjab’s literary heritage, Dhanjal’s artistic sensibilities have been shaped by exposure to international literature from a young age. His filmography includes notable projects such as “Mela,” “Baghi,” “Lagda Ishq Ho Gaya,” “Kabaddi Once Again,” and the blockbuster hit “Blackia.”
Gavie Chahal, an accomplished Indian actor, has captivated audiences in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema. Beginning his journey by winning the title of Mr. Punjab in 2000, Chahal made a name for himself through successful music videos like “Jattan de putt saadh ho gaye.” He transitioned to the television industry with his role in the popular daily soap “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” and later ventured into Punjabi cinema with “Yaaran Naal Baharan.” Chahal’s talent and versatility were further showcased through his portrayal of Shivendu Kaushik in the television series “Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein” and his Hindi film debut as Captain Abrar in “Ek Tha Tiger.”
