Colonel Prakash Tewari (Retd.) currently serves on the Board of Directors of Grameen Impact Ventures, a subsidiary of Grameen Foundation, founded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. Throughout his distinguished career, Colonel Tewari has held key positions in renowned organizations in the private sector, contributing significantly to the fields of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and environmental risk mitigation.
With a background in infrastructure, steel, power, real estate, and renewable energy development, Colonel Tewari’s experience spans across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Australia. Notably, he has served as the Director of Policy (Ecology) at the Integrated HQ of the Ministry of Defence and held executive positions at esteemed companies such as Gurgaon Rejuvenation of DLF Ltd, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, and Tata Power Company Ltd.
Colonel Tewari’s role in these organizations involved mitigating environmental and social risks associated with large-scale infrastructure development projects. He collaborated closely with national governments, international funding agencies, and various stakeholders to ensure the implementation of effective environmental and social risk mitigation strategies. His expertise has been recognized globally, with his case studies and research on topics such as thermal power plant impacts on marine ecosystems gaining international acclaim and featuring in prestigious publications and forums.
In addition to his extensive experience in environmental and social risk mitigation, Colonel Prakash Tewari (Retd.) has also played a pivotal role in the establishment and running of various educational and healthcare institutions. His expertise spans across the domains of universities, engineering colleges, power technology institutes, multi-specialty hospitals, medical colleges, nursing colleges, ITIs, community colleges, and schools. Colonel Tewari’s contributions in these areas have been instrumental in fostering academic excellence, skills development, and providing quality healthcare services to communities. He has served as the Vice President and Board Member of the Global Alliance for Disaster Reduction in the USA, participated in the Working Group Indian Ocean at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and chaired the CSR Committee of the Bombay Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
