DR. Narpinder Singh


Dr. Narpinder Singh is a highly accomplished academic with over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, industry mentoring, and administration. He obtained his BSc in 1982, MSc in Food Technology in 1984, and his Ph.D. in Food Technology in 1989 from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana, India. During his Ph.D., he was awarded a research fellowship in Engineering and Technology by UGC.

Dr. Singh has worked in various positions in academia, including Professor and Reader in the Department of Food Science and Technology at GNDU in Amritsar for over 22 years, Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology at PAU in Ludhiana for nearly five years, and Director of Research at GNDU in Amritsar for three years. He has also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at GNDU in Amritsar and as the Head of the Department of Food Science & Technology at GNDU in Amritsar for almost nine years across multiple tenures.

Dr. Singh has received numerous honors and awards for his outstanding contributions to the field of food science and technology. Some of these include the Highly Cited researcher award in recognition of exceptional research performance demonstrated by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% for the field and year in Agricultural Sciences by Clarivate in both 2021 and 2022, the Professor Krishna Sahai Bilgrami Memorial Medal in Agricultural Sciences by Indian National Science Academy in 2021, the J.C. Bose National Fellowship awarded by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, in 2011, and the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award for outstanding contribution in Natural Resource Management & Agricultural Engineering awarded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 2010.

Dr. Singh is also a Fellow of several national and international academies/associations, including the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the Punjab Academy of Science (PAS), Cereals & Grain Association (formerly Association of Cereal Chemists International), the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and the Association of Food Scientists and Technologist India (AFSTI).
