Guru Nanak Dev Global University is delighted to announce the appointment of Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor AVSM, VSM (Retired) as a distinguished member of its Advisory Board. With over 42 years of professional experience and a stellar career in the Indian Army, Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor brings a wealth of expertise in strategic leadership, technology management, and innovation.
During his tenure as Director General Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the landscape of maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) and technology management of the Indian Army’s equipment. He also served as the Director General Information Systems, spearheading the information systems management and digital technology transformation of the million-strong Indian Army. Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor has served on two UN peacekeeping assignments and contributed significantly to logistics operations and engineering support planning in various critical operations.
Post-retirement, Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor served as the Director General of Amity University, where he established the Amity Institute of Defence Technology and formulated Ph.D. and M.Tech programs in Defence Technology. Currently, he serves as a Board Member of the Technology Innovation Hub Governing Body at IIT Tirupati, where he is also a Professor of Practice. Additionally, he is associated with Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal.
Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor’s vast experience extends beyond his military career. He has been nominated as the Vice President and Chairman of the National Advisory Committee of Asset Management Society India. He is also a qualified Master Class Independent Director and a member of prestigious institutions such as the Institute of Directors and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.
Throughout his career, Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor has demonstrated remarkable leadership and innovation, overseeing large-scale technology projects, information systems management, and technology transition. He has been instrumental in driving initiatives that promote technical skill development, soldier craftsman entrepreneurship, and the development of innovative products for the Army.
Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor has received numerous accolades and awards, including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for his distinguished service and exceptional contributions.
Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, Defence Services Staff College, Higher Command Course at Army War College, and the National Defence College. He holds a Ph.D. in Defence Industrial Base and is a Gold Medalist in B.Tech (Electronics) and Master of Engineering (Mechanical).
Apart from his achievements in the field of defense, Lt Gen Dr Anil Kapoor is a prolific writer and an internationally recognized speaker. He has delivered keynote addresses and presentations at various national and international forums, sharing his insights on topics such as MRO, industrial automation, asset management, innovation culture, and technology sovereignty.
