Renowned Professor and IEEE Fellow, Dr. Santosh Kurinec, Joins the Advisory Board of Guru Nanak Dev Global University

Guru Nanak Dev Global University is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Santosh K. Kurinec to its esteemed advisory board. Dr. Kurinec, a highly accomplished professor and Fellow of IEEE, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering.

Currently serving as a Professor of Electrical & Microelectronic Engineering at the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Dr. Kurinec has made significant contributions to the field throughout her illustrious career. She previously served as the Department Head of Microelectronic Engineering at RIT from 2001 to 2009, playing a pivotal role in shaping the department and fostering academic excellence.

With a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Delhi, India, Dr. Kurinec conducted groundbreaking research on high permeability Mn-Zn ferrites. Her exceptional talent and dedication were recognized early on as she was awarded the National Science Talent Scholarship. Dr. Kurinec had the privilege of interning at renowned institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).

Following her doctorate, Dr. Kurinec worked as a Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi, where she played a crucial role in the development of a polysilicon photovoltaics program. Her passion for research led her to the United States, where she participated in the Training in Alternative Energy Program at the University of Florida.

Continuing her research journey, Dr. Kurinec served as a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. Her focus was on thin metal film composites and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. She later joined the joint college of engineering between Florida State University and Florida A&M University as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, delving into areas such as light emission from silicon-based devices and high-temperature superconducting thin films.

In 1988, Dr. Kurinec joined the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) as an Associate Professor, where she has made invaluable contributions to the institution ever since. Her exceptional teaching skills and dedication were recognized with the 2012 IEEE Technical Field Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching. She is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Education and holds the esteemed position of an IEEE Electron Device Society Distinguished Lecturer.

Alongside her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Kurinec is actively engaged in cutting-edge research. Her current research activities focus on nonvolatile memory, photovoltaics, and advanced integrated circuit materials and processes. She has achieved remarkable breakthroughs in the area of nonvolatile memory, particularly magnetic tunneling and phase-change memory devices. As a member researcher of the NSF-funded Silicon Solar Consortium (SiSoC), she collaborates with esteemed institutions such as NCSU and Georgia Tech, contributing to advancements in photovoltaics.
