Dr. Arun Diwaker Nath Bajpai


Professor Arun Diwaker Nath Bajpai is an esteemed academic and administrator with a wealth of experience in higher education leadership. He currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee University in Bilaspur, Chattisgarh. Throughout his career, Professor Bajpai has made significant contributions to various universities and educational organizations across India.

Previously, he held the position of Vice Chancellor at Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla from 2011 to 2017, where he led the institution with dedication and fostered academic excellence. Prior to that, he served as the Vice-Chancellor of Awadhesh Pratap Singh University in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, from 2003 to 2007. He also held the additional charge of Vice-Chancellor at Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidhyalaya in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, from 2003 to 2004.

Professor Bajpai is actively involved in various academic and professional associations. He is a member of the Association of Indian University (A.I.U.) in New Delhi since 2022 and also a member of Jamia Hamdard (Deemed to be University) in New Delhi from the same year. Additionally, he holds the prestigious position of President of the Indian Economic Association in New Delhi from 2022 onwards. Furthermore, he serves as the Chairman of the High Power Task Force Committee for the implementation of the National Education Policy by the Government of Madhya Pradesh since 2021.

His contributions extend beyond his current positions. Professor Bajpai has served as a council member for the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in London from 2015 to 2017, as well as a council member for the Australia-India Education Council (AIEC) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, since 2015. He has also held significant roles such as Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in New Delhi from 2011 to 2012 and Honorary Secretary and Treasurer of the Indian Economic Association from 2000 to 2003.

In addition to his academic and administrative responsibilities, Professor Bajpai has made notable contributions to various committees and organizations focused on educational reforms and social development. He has been involved in important initiatives such as the Deen Dayal Upadhayay Centenary Celebration Committee, the Mahatma Gandhi 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee, and the National Foundation for Communal Harmony.

Furthermore, Professor Bajpai has been actively engaged in representing Indian academia on the global stage. He has participated in international conferences and forums, including the International Economic Association Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2002, the IBSA Summit on Education in Durban, South Africa, in 2011, and the International Association of Universities Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, also in 2011.
