Dr. Benjamin F. Miller, PsyD

Dr. Benjamin F. Miller, PsyD, is a prominent advocate for mental health awareness and education, as well as a leading figure in shaping more robust and equitable health policies. As the past president of Well Being Trust, a national foundation dedicated to advancing the mental, social, and spiritual health of the nation, Dr. Miller has dedicated his career to prioritizing mental health in policies, programs, and investments.

With a background in clinical psychology, Dr. Miller’s expertise lies at the intersection of policy and practice. He has worked tirelessly to ensure that mental health and addiction are prioritized across America, with a focus on integrating mental health into primary care. Driven by a desire to help vulnerable members of society, he has provided support to children in special education, cancer patients, and prison inmates, gaining insights into the damaging consequences of marginalizing mental health.

Dr. Miller’s extensive policy work has made him a sought-after expert by policy leaders, including presidential candidates. He has testified before federal and state committees and has made presentations worldwide, advocating for mental health to be an integral part of healthcare. Dr. Miller’s insights and professional opinion are highly regarded by members of Congress and state officials when it comes to advancing mental health policy in America.

Through media appearances and his newsletter, Mental: Fighting the fragmentation of mental health one policy at a time, Dr. Miller has shared his analysis and advice on mental health issues, connecting everyday happenings to mental health. His work has been featured in numerous local and national media outlets, cementing his reputation as an influential voice in the field.

Dr. Miller holds advisory and adjunct professor positions at various organizations, including Inseparable, the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Eugene S. Farley, Jr. Health Policy Center, Mental Health Colorado, the Stanford School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and the British Journal of General Practice. Dr. Madhukar H. Trivedi


Dr. Madhukar H. Trivedi is a distinguished psychiatrist and researcher, currently holding positions as Professor of Psychiatry, Chief of the Division of Mood Disorders, and Director of the Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care at UT Southwestern Medical Center. With an impressive educational background, Dr. Trivedi earned his MBBS and MS from Baroda Medical College in India, followed by residencies in Psychiatry at University General Hospital in Baroda, India, and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his fellowship at UT Southwestern, where he now holds prestigious positions including the Betty Jo Hay Distinguished Chair in Mental Health and the Julie K. Hersh Chair for Depression Research and Clinical Care.

Dr. Trivedi is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has established himself as a leading clinical and translational researcher in the field of depression and bipolar disorder. Over the course of 25 years, his research has focused on understanding the neurobiology and psychology of mood disorders, with a specific emphasis on improving the treatment of depression. Dr. Trivedi has been involved in groundbreaking studies that have examined the efficacy of various antidepressant treatments, including medications, psychotherapy, exercise, complementary treatments, and devices. His work also includes developing algorithms and guidelines for treatment-resistant depression and identifying biomarkers to advance the field of precision medicine for mood disorders.

Dr. Trivedi’s contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous awards and honors. He has served on the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association Scientific Advisory Board and has received accolades such as the Psychiatric Excellence Award from the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians (TSPP), the Gerald Klerman Senior Investigator Award, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Award for Research, and the American College of Psychiatrists (ACP) Award for Research in Mood Disorders. Additionally, Dr. Trivedi has been recognized as a Global Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics for six consecutive years.

Actively involved in professional organizations, Dr. Trivedi is a member of esteemed groups such as the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP), the American College of Psychiatrists (ACP), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Dallas County Medical Society, the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SBP), the Texas Medical Association (TMA), and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians (TSPP). He serves as the Deputy Editor of the American Journal of Psychiatry and holds the position of president in the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP).
