Dr. Vikasdeep Singh Mann’s research interests span a broad and interdisciplinary range within the field of materials science. His expertise includes studying the fundamental properties and behaviors of various materials, with a focus on their mechanical, thermal, and electrical characteristics. He delves into the design, fabrication, and performance optimization of composite materials, aiming to enhance their strength, durability, and application-specific properties. His exploration into nanomaterials includes their synthesis, characterization, and industrial applications, emphasizing their unique size-dependent properties. Additionally, Dr. Mann researches the microstructure, phase transformations, and mechanical properties of metals and alloys, crucial for understanding their performance in structural and functional applications. Dr. Vikasdeep Singh Mann, an affiliate member of the Guru Nanak Dev Global University, known for his expertise in Mechanical Engineering and significant contributions to research and education. He currently serves as an Assistant Dean Research & HOD (Mechanical & Civil Engineering) at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhajeri, Mohali.

Dr. Mann earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, where his research focused on the study of dry sliding wear characteristics of corundum reinforced aluminium alloy matrix composites. He holds a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from PEC University of Technology, with a thesis on Lean Mean Green Manufacturing through value stream mapping, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Technical University.

His research interests lie in composites formulation and casting, wear analysis, erosion and corrosion testing of casted materials, and thermal spray coatings. Dr. Mann’s notable skills include user experience research, life-cycle analysis, process improvement, Lean Six Sigma, and various qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

Dr. Mann has extensive research experience, having served as a Research Associate at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in New Delhi, where he developed and analyzed composites reinforced with corundum particles. He has also contributed to process improvement projects for Lean Six Sigma certification and worked on product development projects at Havells India Limited.

Dr. Mann has been awarded numerous fellowships and honors, including the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Project Fellowship and the Ministry of Human Resource & Development India Fellowship. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and holds multiple patents in his field.

In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Mann is actively involved in mentoring undergraduate students, facilitating research projects, and promoting industry engagement. His dedication to education and research makes him a valuable member of the Guru Nanak Dev Global University affiliation program, where he continues to contribute to global collaborations and address pressing challenges aligned with the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
