In Memoriam: Dr. Shivinder Singh Gill

Today, we remember and honor the life of Dr. Shivinder Singh Gill, a founding member of Guru Nanak Dev Global University and a distinguished medical professional who left us on October 12, 2023. Dr. Gill’s passing fills our hearts with deep sorrow, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

My connection with Dr. Gill:

Our journey with Dr. Gill began on 21st, February 2020, during Roar 4 Change’s first International Better Learning & Teaching conference in Navi Mumbai. This encounter marked the commencement of a profound connection between Dr. Gill and our organization, especially my journey. His wisdom and guidance were immediately apparent, and his presence left an indelible mark.

Inspirational Support:

As we initiated our free grocery distribution program for seniors in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) in March 2020, Dr. Gill became a steadfast source of support. He not only encouraged our mission but actively engaged in offering guidance on program improvement over the phone. His unwavering belief in our cause significantly bolstered our efforts. Today we have completed over 1150+ free grocery deliveries in DFW area for seniors and people with special needs.

A Shared Vision:

Our paths crossed once again in 2022 during my visits to India. At the second International Better Learning Teaching Conference in February 2023, we embarked on a shared mission. The conference’s ideation sessions sowed the seeds of an ambitious project—a university outside India with Indian roots. Dr. Gill’s vision and guidance were instrumental in shaping this initiative.

A Mentor and Guide:

Our shared mission transformed Dr. Gill into a mentor, and our daily discussions focused on bringing our vision to life. With Dr. Gill’s wisdom and innovative ideas, we began forging a path towards creating the Guru Nanak Dev Global University in Dallas. His insightful guidance paved the way for the development of this educational institution.

An Enduring Partnership:

Over the past 8 months, we have rallied a community of over 30 renowned advisors and nearly 40 dedicated development team members for Guru Nanak Dev Global University. Dr. Gill’s mentorship was instrumental in this collaborative effort. Under his guidance, we established the Guru Nanak Dev Global Foundation on September 27, 2023, as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization under the laws of Texas. Dr. Gill and I are proud to be the founding members of this foundation, with the university as an integral part of our mission.

An Irreplaceable Loss:

Dr. Shivinder Singh Gill’s loss is immeasurable, but his spirit will continue to guide us from above. May his soul rest in eternal peace. The Guru Nanak Dev Global University in Dallas will stand as the most fitting tribute to his legacy.

A Unified Call to Action:

I call upon all members of Guru Nanak Dev Global University—advisors, development team members, his former students, and close associates—to join hands and transform Dr. Gill’s vision into a reality. Together, we will honor his memory and create an institution that stands as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment.
