Program Outline: Chardi Kala Guardians Veterans as Principal Advisors at Guru Nanak Dev Global University

Program Vision

To harness the discipline, leadership, integrity, and service-oriented mindset of armed forces veterans (from Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and allied services worldwide) as Principal Advisors at GNDGU. These veterans will play a pivotal role in coaching students, conducting English proficiency assessments, and designing personalized career pathways that lead to 100% employability and purposeful lives.

Program Objectives

  • Engage global armed forces veterans as Principal Advisors to mentor and guide the next generation.
  • Provide high-quality English proficiency testing and coaching across schools, colleges, universities, and corporates.
  • Create individualized career pathways based on students’ assessed proficiency levels, skills, and aspirations.
  • Instill values of discipline, leadership, resilience, and seva (selfless service) in students through veteran mentorship.
  • Strengthen GNDGU’s global network and contribute to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Who Can Join?

  • Retired or honorably discharged personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Paramilitary, and allied defense services worldwide.
  • Serving professionals who wish to contribute part-time as advisors.
  • Veterans with strong communication skills, teaching aptitude, and a passion for mentoring youth.

Role Title: Principal Advisor – Chardi Kala Guardians

Core Activities of Principal Advisors

  1. English Proficiency Assessment
    • Conduct standardized English proficiency tests (speaking, listening, reading, writing) for students at partnered schools, colleges, universities, and corporates.
    • Use GNDGU’s validated assessment framework aligned with CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
  2. Personalized Coaching & Mentoring
    • Deliver one-on-one and group coaching sessions to improve English communication skills.
    • Focus on confidence building, professional communication, interview skills, and public speaking.
  3. Career Pathway Development
    • Based on assessment results, create customized career roadmaps for each student/professional.
    • Pathways may include: higher education options, skill certifications, job placements, entrepreneurship guidance, or leadership development programs at GNDGU.
  4. Values-Based Leadership Sessions
    • Share real-life experiences on discipline, teamwork, ethics, and resilience to inspire students.

Program Structure (Phased Implementation)

Phase 1: Onboarding & Training (First 3 months)

  • Orientation on GNDGU’s mission, vision, and Chardi Kala philosophy.
  • Training on English assessment tools and career counseling methodology.
  • Virtual induction sessions with GNDGU leadership.

Phase 2: Active Engagement (Ongoing)

  • Advisors conduct assessments and coaching sessions (online/offline).
  • Monthly progress reviews and student feedback.
  • Quarterly virtual meets with other Principal Advisors globally.

Phase 3: Impact & Leadership

  • Senior advisors mentor new veterans joining the network.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and policy recommendations for GNDGU.
