Saint-Soldier Saga

Global Call to the Community: Join the Saint-Soldier Saga Project

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

The SHINE Center of Excellence (Sikh History & Interfaith Narratives Excellence) at Guru Nanak Dev Global University is proud to announce the launch of the Saint-Soldier Saga Project – an ambitious, multi-year initiative to research, document, and celebrate the extraordinary life journeys of 50 Sikh Saint-Soldiers who embodied the perfect harmony of miri-piri: spiritual depth and fearless courage in service of justice, equality, and humanity.

From Banda Bahadur to Bhai Kanhaiya Ji, from Mai Bhago to the countless unsung warriors of faith and valor, these Saint-Soldiers lived Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s timeless message – contemplating the One while standing against oppression. Their stories of sacrifice, wisdom, and selfless seva remain beacons for our world today.

Through rigorous, scholarly research, SHINE aims to bring these sacred narratives to light for new generations. For each Saint-Soldier, we will produce clear, impactful deliverables:

  • A peer-reviewed research paper
  • A dedicated chapter in a forthcoming anthology/book series
  • Podcast episodes and video interviews
  • Certification courses integrated into GNDGU’s curriculum

We are also actively seeking 100 Principal Advisors to guide and enrich this project. We invite applications from individuals with the following profiles:

  • MA or PhD in Philosophy, History, Sikh Studies, or related fields
  • Retired or active professors/academicians with expertise in Sikh history or interfaith studies
  • Respected Gurdwara Granthis with deep knowledge of Gurbani, Sikh traditions, and historical katha

Principal Advisors will provide strategic guidance, review research outputs, mentor younger scholars, and help ensure authenticity and spiritual depth in all materials.

This is a voluntary, honorary role rooted in seva, with opportunities for global recognition and collaboration. This is not merely an academic exercise – it is a collective seva to preserve truth, inspire youth, and share the universal relevance of Sikh values with the world.

We call upon you – the global community – to join us in this noble endeavor.

Whether you are a historian, scholar, storyteller, educator, diaspora leader, youth enthusiast, respected Granthi, professor, or simply a devoted seeker of truth, your contribution can make a difference. We invite you to:

  • Share rare manuscripts, family oral histories, photographs, or artifacts
  • Volunteer as researchers, interviewers, translators, or content reviewers
  • Apply to serve as one of our 100 Principal Advisors
  • Connect us with experts, archives, museums, or institutions holding relevant materials
  • Sponsor or co-create specific Saint-Soldier profiles through partnerships

All contributions will be duly acknowledged in publications, podcasts, and courses. Selected collaborators and Principal Advisors may be invited as Honorary Advisors or Guest Faculty at GNDGU.

To participate or apply as a Principal Advisor, please contact us by January 31, 2026, at info@gndgu.com with the subject “Saint-Soldier Saga Contribution” or visit
