New Online and Hybrid Learning Opportunities in Semiconductor Technology, AI-Powered Filmmaking, and Punjabi Music & Heritage Aim to Connect Education, Industry, Creativity, and Culture

Guru Nanak Dev Global University (GNDGU) has announced the launch of three innovative academic and professional development programs designed to prepare learners for emerging industries while preserving and promoting Punjab’s rich cultural and creative heritage.
The newly launched programs include:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Semiconductor Technology & Systems – focused on the rapidly expanding semiconductor ecosystem, advanced technologies, and industry-oriented learning.
- VIRSA PUNJAB – CINEMA – an innovative program integrating artificial intelligence, filmmaking, creative storytelling, screenwriting, direction, and cinematic production.
- VIRSA PUNJAB – SUR SAGAR – a program dedicated to Punjabi music, singing, musical traditions, and the preservation and promotion of Punjab’s musical heritage.
All three programs are being offered through flexible online and offline hybrid learning models, making education accessible to learners in different parts of the world while maintaining meaningful opportunities for in-person learning, collaboration, and practical engagement.
Earn While You Learn (EWL) – Learn, Apply, Create, and Earn
All students enrolled in GNDGU’s three programs – NEXUS-SEMICON, VIRSA PUNJAB – CINEMA, and VIRSA PUNJAB – SURSAGAR; will be part of the Earn While You Learn (EWL) Program during their second year. Students will gain practical experience through industry projects, internships, research, technical assignments, film productions, music projects, and creative engagements relevant to their respective programs. This initiative will help students develop professional skills, build portfolios, establish industry connections, and earn through eligible paid assignments.
A Global Learning Network – Six Learning Centres
As part of its global education and outreach initiative, Guru Nanak Dev Global University has established six learning locations across the United States and India.

A Unique Hybrid Learning Model
One of the distinguishing features of the newly launched programs is their flexible hybrid learning structure.
Students will primarily participate in online learning and will be required to attend one offline learning session every quarter at any one of the university’s designated learning centres.
Each quarterly in-person session will consist of two days of classes – Friday and Saturday.
Students will have the flexibility to select any of the six available centres, regardless of where they are originally enrolled or located, subject to scheduling and centre availability.
This model is designed to provide the convenience of online education while ensuring that learners benefit from face-to-face interaction, collaborative activities, practical exposure, peer networking, mentorship, and community engagement.
The university’s six-centre network will also provide opportunities for students from different countries and regions to connect, collaborate, and build lasting professional and creative relationships.
Program 1: NEXUS-SEMICON – Postgraduate Certificate in Semiconductor Technology & Systems
The semiconductor industry is one of the most strategically important technology sectors, driving innovation in artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, telecommunications, aerospace, healthcare, advanced computing, and modern manufacturing.
Through NEXUS-SEMICON, GNDGU aims to develop a new generation of semiconductor professionals, engineers, researchers, technology leaders, and entrepreneurs.
The program provides a comprehensive understanding of the semiconductor ecosystem, covering:

Program 2: VIRSA PUNJAB – CINEMA
Your Story. Your Direction. Your Performance. Your Film.
VIRSA PUNJAB – CINEMA is a two-year professional certification program in AI Filmmaking, Creative Innovation, and Feature Film Production.
The program introduces an innovative approach to cinematic education by empowering students to become storytellers, screenwriters, directors, actors, producers, and creators of their own films.
Unlike conventional film education, where students primarily study existing productions, VIRSA PUNJAB – CINEMA emphasizes learning through actual creative development and production.
Students will explore:
- Storytelling, screenwriting, and character development
- Film direction, cinematography, and acting
- Artificial Intelligence in filmmaking
- AI-assisted character creation and video generation
- Film editing, sound, music, and visual effects
- Virtual production and digital environments
- Film production, management, and entrepreneurship
- Copyright, intellectual property, and responsible AI
A distinctive feature of the program is the opportunity for students to participate in two signature feature-film projects:
1. SHER-E-HIMALAYA – Zorawar Singh: A historical cinematic production exploring the life and legacy of General Zorawar Singh.
2. SARABHA – Kartar Singh Sarabha: A biographical cinematic project inspired by the life, ideals, and revolutionary legacy of Kartar Singh Sarabha.

VIRSA PUNJAB – SUR SAGAR is a two-year integrated learning program dedicated to Punjabi music, poetry, literary arts, cultural heritage, and creative innovation.
The program seeks to preserve Punjab’s rich musical and literary traditions while introducing learners to contemporary music production, digital technologies, and creative industries.
It brings together the worlds of Punjabi poetry and music, drawing inspiration from legendary literary voices including Amrita Pritam and Shiv Kumar Batalvi.
The program covers:
- Music theory, rhythm, and vocal or instrumental training
- Punjabi folk music and cultural traditions
- Punjabi poetry, literature, and language
- Indian classical music and performance
- Sufi music and contemporary musical expression

ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਤਿਮਾਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਲਰਨਿੰਗ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਕਲਾਸਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਲਗਾਉਣੀ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
