Honorary Advisor – ADVAIT Center of Excellence
Carter Hall has 40+ years of experience in Semiconductor, Magnetic Media, Solar and related support industries. His niche is aligned towards process engineering, equipment engineering and facilities engineering. He has worked globally supporting companies and projects specializing in design, management and budgeting.

Work Experience
- Started with Texas Instruments while attending University of Houston in a Bipolar FAB in the process engineering. Joined AMD in 1981 and had roles in process engineering, equipment engineering and facilities engineering for multiple new FAB start-ups in Austin and California. Developed the programs for tool installation and facilities support projects with budgeting models and cost management programs. Assigned to SemaTECH in 1989 as part if original start-up team in charge of high purity wet chemistry distribution and blending along with chemistry recycle and waste treatment. Also part of team developing ROI (return on investment) and COO (cost of ownership) models for building and operation of FABs.
- In joined and new technology startup in Silicon Valley in 1989 providing turn-key high purity chemistry distribution and blending from source to wafer. During 1990’s through early 2000’s supported global FAB builds and retrofits for chemical delivery and waste systems. Supported and implemented technology transfers from USA, Japan and Europe into FABs in Tiawan, Korea, Singapore, Maylasia and other new developing markets. Worked with many of major OEM equipment manufactures on the equipment and process development specializing in Photo, Etch, CMP and wet processing systems.
- In mid 2000’s developed programs for refurbishment and upgrading legacy equipment working with several independent companies and also OEMs. These programs also dealt with legacy parts supporting systems. Developed several programs to upgrade legacy OEM equipment to currant industry software and hardware to eliminate demand for obsolescing parts
- Work with multiple FAB owners which have multiple global FAB operations in both 200mm and 300mm manufacturing on doing process retooling along with value analysis for selling of non-required systems and parts.
- Worked with several high purity chemical suppliers designing and building facilities for blending and manufacture of chemistries along with the high purity packing systems required. Work with many OEMs on manufacturing costing programs from low-cost country models to refinement of manufacturing practices. Work with multiple companies to set up reverse engineering programs for parts and control systems for equipment which is no longer supported.
